Microsoft Lumia 940 & Lumia 940 XL Windows 10 phones UK release date

he fact that the Microsoft Lumia 940 and 940 XL run Windows 10 means we'll be waiting a little while yet for them to arrive. The Lumia 930 went on sale in the UK on 17 July 2014, so it'll be later this summer before the 940 and 940 XL make an appearance.  It's probable that the Lumia 940 and 940 XL will arrive with Windows 10. On 21 January Microsoft held a Windows 10 event, during which it unveiled a Consumer Preview of the OS.

Microsoft hasn’t been terribly forthcoming about the launch of Windows 10 for Mobile, though it has said that the new operating system will debut on a high-end Windows Phone. Earlier reports hint at a September launch date for the mystery device, but now we’ve finally got an idea of what the new flagship will be like.
Updated on 07-13-2015 by Malarie Gokey: Added pricing rumor that hints at a price tag that’s higher than the iPhone 6’s price tag. Also added rumor about a plastic, polycarbonate body for the phones, iris scanners, and a November launch date.
The phone could be a Quad HD monster phone with super high-end specs and the name Lumia 940 XL, and it may have a slightly less powerful sibling, the Lumia 940. These Lumias could be the Cityman and Talkman phones that recently leaked — the specs certainly seem to match. Both phones first leaked on AdDuplex’s ad network, and although the listings only show the devices’ respective screen sizes and resolutions, these two Windows phones look promising.

Expensive price rumored for the plastic phone

Unlike many leading smartphones, Lumia phones typically sport plastic backs, even on the high-end models. The Lumia 940 and 940 XL appear to be no exception to the rule, as a new report from Windows Mobile Power User states that Microsoft’s flagship Lumias will have polycarbonate backs.
However, unlike most of the Lumia phones that Microsoft has launched in recent months, the 940 and 940 XL will reportedly cost more than an iPhone 6 or Samsung Galaxy S6. In other words, the Lumia 940 and 940 XL may cost more than $650 unsubsidized, which is a hefty price tag for a Windows Phone. Windows Mobile Power User claims that Microsoft may justify the price based on all the high-end specs that’ve been previously rumored for the two phones, as well as an iris scanner for added security.

Lumia 940 XL and Lumia 940

If the listings are accurate, the Lumia 940 XL will sport a Quad HD screen with a 2,560-by-1,440 pixel resolution. The screen size is allegedly 5.7 inches, and the XL may be powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor and 3GB of RAM, NokiaPowerUser reports. Other specs reportedly include 32GB of storage, a MicroSD card slot, a 20-megapixel PureView camera, a 5-megapixel selfie shooter, and more. The publication also hints at an iris scanner, though that seems a bit far-fetched.

Microsoft Lumia 430 Dual SIM

Microsoft as promised has launched its most affordable Lumia handset yet in India, the Lumia 430 Dual SIM. Priced at Rs. 5,299, the Microsoft Lumia 430 Dual SIM will be available in the country starting Thursday.
Initially announced in March, Microsoft touts the Lumia 430 Dual SIM as its "most affordable Lumia to-date". The Redmond giant last month had promised that the Lumia 430 Dual SIM will be unveiled for the Indian market by end of April and the company has indeed kept its promise.
One of the biggest highlights of the Lumia 430 Dual SIM is it can be upgraded to Windows 10 when it becomes available later this year.
Microsoft has been continuously pushing affordable Lumia handsets in various markets. The company in January launched the new affordable Lumia 400-series smartphones, the Lumia 435 and Lumia 435 Dual SIM, alongside the Lumia 532 and Lumia 532 Dual SIM.

It comes with 8GB of built-in storage expandable further via microSD card (up to 128GB). Much like other Lumia handsets, the Lumia 430 Dual SIM also comes with 30GB of free OneDrive cloud storage. The smartphone supports dual Micro-SIM cards.
It sports a 2-megapixel fixed-focus rear camera while also housing a 0.3-megapixel front camera. The handset is backed by a 1500mAh replaceable battery, measures 120.5x63.19x10.63mm, and weighs 127.9 grams.
The Lumia 430 Dual SIM features a suite of Microsoft services including Microsoft's Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote), Outlook, Skype, OneDrive, and users can download more apps from the Windows Phone Store. The Lumia 430 Dual SIM comes in Bright Orange and Black colours.

Windows 10 Mobile Launch in Late-September

 2015

Neowin has obtained an alleged Microsoft presentation slide where the firm has detailed its plan for the release of various Windows 10 editions to one of its partners alongside the Windows 10 Mobile release date. We already know that Microsoft will release versions of Windows 10 for mobiles and tablets only after Windows 10 for PCs on July 29. The company however is yet to officially reveal an exact release date for Windows 10 Mobile.

A slight delay

The source is a South Africa based-website so it's possible his quote was just for African markets and markets such as the UK and US will see the release much earlier.

It's important to note this is also just party chat. At these kind of events wires can sometimes get crossed so we've gone directly to Microsoft to see if there is some official comment.

All we know for certain is Windows 10 Mobile won't be launching today - but the rest of the new platform has.
